Brothers Jacob & Jeremiah Winslow are parolees of Andersonville and Cahaba, the worst Confederate prison camps in the South. With the war over, they are finally heading home to family and friends. Their last step is a journey north from Vicksburg on the twisting, muddy Mississippi. They will board a dangerously over-crowded Riverboat named the SS SULTANA. But their hopeful journey will end in tragedy for thousands of Union soldiers, and a transformation for the two young brothers. For in the dead of night . . . just north of Memphis . . . the Sultana’s weakened boilers will explode in fury!
